19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.
The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
